Weekly Update 26

Newspaper Club: The next meeting of Newspaper Club will take place on Tuesday, 3/26, after school in Room 125. Questions? Contact Ms. Ramsdell at lramsdell@orcsd.org

Friendship Walk: This year’s Best Buddies Friendship Walk will take place on Saturday, May 11th at the State House grounds in Concord at 10 a.m. (check-in at 9 a.m.) The ORMS Best Buddies Chapter has put together a walking team known as the Bobcat Buddies and is looking for people to join us in this fundraising opportunity! For those that don’t already know, Best Buddies is an awesome organization that focuses on fostering friendships between peers. It can be very hard for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to make connections on their own, so Best Buddies serves as a catalyst to create new friendships for students. The Friendship Walk is an opportunity for us to raise awareness and funds to support these inclusion efforts. The cool thing about this event is that it is open to ALL ORMS STUDENTS AND FAMILIES, even if you are not involved in Best Buddies! If you would like to join the BOBCAT BUDDIES team, please register by visiting https://www.bestbuddiesfriendshipwalk.org/newhampshire/register/ Last year, the ORMS team raised about $2,000 for this event. Our goal this year is $2,500. If walking isn’t for you, but you would like to support our cause, donations can be made by visiting https://www.bestbuddiesfriendshipwalk.org/newhampshire/donate-to-a-team/ If you have any questions about this event or Best Buddies itself, please contact Laurenne Ramsdell (lramsdell@orcsd.org) or Alex Grout (agrout@orcsd.org)

PTO NEWS:The ORMS PTO is currently looking for volunteers to fill the positions of President, Vice President and Treasurer for the 2019-2020 school year.  These positions are being vacated by volunteers whose children are aging out of the middle school.  The Secretary will stay on for 1 more year and will help the new volunteers transition.  This is a great way to become involved with your child's school, stay connected to what's happening, connect with other parents, teachers and administrators and have some fun while doing it.   Find a friend and be co-chairs!  This is not a big time commitment but the PTO does a lot of great things for our school and with a new middle school on the horizon, it's really important we have a PTO in place.  Please contact us at ormsptodurham@gmail.com if you are interested or would like more information.   Find us on facebook @ormspto.

If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to contact Principal Jay Richard or Assistant Principal Bill Sullivan at jrichard@orcsd.org bsullivan@orcsd.org
